There is not much to talk about for this upcoming fall and winter. Due to Ares health and older age he will not be put into hibernation. The clutch he sired this past summer doesn't seem to be doing well. All but one of the eggs look to have gone bad. We believe its either because of his old age, the female not being hibernated before breeding, or perhaps both things that may have led to the bad clutch. We can only hope the one good egg makes it in the incubator.
The surprise clutch by our rescue ghost corn Casper also failed to make it. All of the eggs looked good until the last month of incubation. During the last month they sagged inwards and began rotting/molding. We do not know the reason for this. Our temperatures for incubating were between 78-85 degree range and the eggs were misted when needed.
So for another year we will hold off any breeding until everything is set. That means having females above 300 grams, a good snake rack, and a good incubator. Granted to say we already have an offer for loaned Peppermint and tessera males that we had to decline until we are fully ready for the resulting young.
In other news I (Terra) will be heading to the NY Metro Reptile Expo in White Plains this sunday Sept. 9th 2013 to get supplies for our reptiles. I'll mostly be getting frozen mice and stuff.
A part from that I hope everyone has a good fall. Enjoy the wide array of colors that the trees will soon grace us with and enjoy the time you have with your family and friends. Peace out!
