-We have just found out that our little Rougalé Harpy Bacon might have pied blood. She is either het for pied or she is a low grade pied bloodred corn snake. This is surprising news since we bought her as a $49 high quality bloodred. If she is het for pied her price should have been $100. If she is a low grade pied then her price should have been $200. That was a great buy for us! However we need to test if she does have pied blood in the first place. We will probably be purchasing another either het pied bloodred male to test the possibility of her being het for it also.
-The reason we believe her to have pied blood is because she is showing many markers for being a pied. Pied snakes generally have transclucent ventral (belly) scales. They can also show white scales along the sides of their bodies. She is showing signs of both these markers. So let's hope for the best! Let's also hope that we can get this baby eating on her own. If we can't do that then we won't be able to breed her ever. :(
